Mike's Past Travels

Monday, January 1, 1900

I guess traveling has been in my blood since high school. My first solo trip without parents was to Hawaii to meet a bunch of friends. This round trip ticket was $200 and my hotel room was about $10 a night. A lot has changed since then, except my desire to travel. After college I started my business career and was able to travel very inexpensively because my spouse was a Flight Attendant. During a skiing trip to Austria we met several people who were bumming around Europe and, over dinner one night, discussed doing the same thing. By that October we were back in Europe picking up a VW Camper in Germany and starting a year of traveling in Europe. Since that trip, I’ve been fortunate to be able to do a fair amount of traveling for both business and pleasure. But my dream since that year in Europe has been to travel around the world. Late last year it became apparent to me that this was the right time in my life to see the world. And I would have a great traveling companion who would enjoy the same experiences and adventures.

Having met Pat almost 2 years ago, we have had a great time together a lot of outdoor activities. After I decided to begin planning this trip I asked Pat if she would like to join me in this adventure. I was surprised at how fast she said ‘YES’. Since that dinner with wine (funny how a trip like this can start with dinner and wine) we have been planning this adventure for over a year. This trip is so much more complex in planning then just picking up a camper at the Frankfurt airport and off you go. But we have now put it together and it begins soon This trip will take us to such exciting countries, cultures and wondrous places I have thus far I have only dreamed of visiting. I know this will be the most exciting trip will have ever taken.

Where’s Pat and Mike?
